The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a collaboration between organizations such as the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The SBTi helps companies set climate goals in line with what the latest science deems necessary to meet the Paris Agreement’s objectives of limiting global warming to well below 2°C, and ideally to 1.5°C. It provides businesses with a clearly defined path to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions through independently assessed and validated targets based on scientific data, ensuring that corporate climate strategies align with global efforts to mitigate climate change.
